The original skaterhappy card game

By Skaterhappy

The Original Skateboarding Card Game was conceived in Afghanistan when a passionate Skater, on a mission and away from home, had the strong desire to feel the emotion of Skateboarding. Although riding his board was not an option, the tricks did not stop flowing in his mind, every time a bunker or T-Wall was spotted, a trick was inevitably created in his imagination. This game is the result of breaking down the creative process of skateboarding, allowing players to experience the excitement that skaters feel when formulating their tricks in the real life. It doesn't matter if you can jump or not. This is our language, our way of expressing the Art of Skateboarding action in our own words.

Game Objective

To win the game, players combine compatible cards to create a Skateboarding trick. The trick with the highest score wins the game.

Total of 54 Cards

  • 10 Spot Cards

  • 22 Jump Cards

  • 2 Manual Cards

  • 4 Grab Cards

  • 4 Grind Cards

  • 5 Slide Cards

  • 7 Lucky Cards

How to Create a Trick

First of all, let's understand the creative process behind a skateboard trick. Just like in real life, the first thing we need to do is choose the spot where we want to perform the trick.

In the game, the spot card category represents the place where the trick will be performed. Only one Spot Card can be used per trick.

Example card "Stairs with Ledge".

Then, once the spot is chosen, comes the trick decision. Your mind and body say:

“I think I can jump this stair with a kickflip!

You look at the spot and visualize the exact spot to jump, the intended landing zone, and you go for it. Congratulations, you just did your first skateboard trick!

This combo describes a Kickflip over a Double Set Handrail.

So easy that you will want more adrenaline and choose a "Front Side Kickflip" as your next challenge. Here is an example of how to create this trick by combining two "Jump Cards"

This combo describes a Front Side Flip over a Double Set Handrail.

You can combine up to five cards, so keep going! After combining all of the compatible "Jump Cards" you want, its time to add "After Jump" cards. There are Grab Cards, Slide Cards and Grind Cards.

Of course there is more! The Lucky Cards category brings strategy, rivalry, and a lot of fun!

The game is designed to formulate "realistic" tricks (if such a statement can be true for skateboarders). So use your imagination and recreate the creative process of skateboarding.

Game Setup

The rest of the cards are placed in a Draw Pile face down. Next to the pile a space should be designated for a Discard Pile. The top card should be placed in the Discard Pile, and the game begins!

Every player starts with five cards, and they are dealt face down.

Game Play

There are three rounds and chances to improve your game. The first player is the player to the left of the dealer and gameplay usually follows a clockwise direction.

(1) First try!

During each player turn, a maximum of three cards can be exchanged. Place the cards you want to trade in the discard pile and then draw the same number of cards from the deck.

(2) Second try!

In this round each player can exchange a maximum of two cards from the deck. Place the cards you want to trade in the discard pile and draw the same number from the deck.

(3) Last try!

You can only exchange one card. This is the last chance to play any remaining Lucky card.

(4) Show time!

The player who started the game will be the first to show his cards and explain his trick. Finally, sum the points on your cards and tell the others your score. In the same fashion, the next player will show their trick and so on until everyone has shown their tricks. The player with the highest score wins the Game.

*Trick will score zero points if you don't have at least one Jump Card.

*All cards in a trick must be compatible with each other! Check for “Uncompatible” and “Required” legends on the cards.
